Acceptable Weathering Coil Quality — Delivery Delay Resolved
Ordered 12 tons of A588 Grade A coil, 9mm thickness, 1400mm width for a pedestrian bridge project in Ontario. Material quality itself was satisfactory — MTC values compliant with ASTM A588, yield strength at 349 MPa, tensile at 491 MPa, copper content confirmed at 0.27%. However, delivery to Vancouver port took 38 days against a quoted 25–35 day window, which caused a scheduling conflict with our fabrication subcontractor. When we raised the delay, the logistics team provided updated tracking information and explanations within 24 hours and the material arrived undamaged with packaging intact. The 3.1 MTC documentation was complete and accepted by our project engineer without queries. Overall the product met specification and the communication during the delay was handled professionally. We would consider reordering but would build additional schedule buffer into our procurement timeline.

Good Value A588 Coil for Utility Pole Fabrication
Placed an order for 28 tons of A588 Grade A coil in 7mm thickness, 1600mm width for utility pole structural members in a rural electrification project. Material certified to ASTM A588/A588M-19 with 3.1 MTCs covering all heats. Yield and tensile values were consistent across heats — average yield at 351 MPa, tensile at 497 MPa. Slitting to our required 400mm strip width was handled in-house by the supplier and strip camber was within acceptable limits for our roll-forming line. Reliable S355J2WP Coil Supply with Good Documentation
Ordered 22 tons of S355J2WP coil in 5mm and 12mm thickness for railway hopper car body fabrication. Chemical composition and mechanical properties on the 3.1 MTCs were fully EN 10025-5:2019 compliant — elongation measured at 22%, above the 20% minimum, which is important for our cold-forming operations. Yield strength on the 12mm material came in at 362 MPa. Pricing was competitive compared to two European distributors we evaluated, though not quite at the lowest level we have seen from spot market sources.
