Acceptable Galvanized Coil Quality — Communication Issue Resolved
Ordered 20 tons of CS Type B, Z180 coating, 1.5mm thickness for light-gauge steel framing components. The material itself met ASTM A653 mechanical specs and coating weight was verified at 182 g/m². However, there was an initial mix-up on the surface treatment — we specified oiled finish but the first production confirmation showed chromate-passivated. We caught this during document review before production started and the team corrected it, but it caused a 4-day delay to our schedule. After the correction, the coils were produced and shipped correctly within the revised timeline. Supplier was responsive once the issue was escalated. Quality of the final product was fine for our application. Would consider reordering with clearer order confirmation procedures in place.

Ordered 35 tons of DX51D+Z, Z275, 0.7mm × 1200mm for grain storage silo panel production. Pricing was competitive — about 8% below our previous supplier on a CIF Santos basis. MTC documentation was complete and ASTM A653 compliant. Minor point: two coils in the shipment had slightly uneven edge trim requiring re-slitting on our line, adding about half a day of processing time.
