We ordered 8 tons of galvanized ERW pipe, 1.5-inch OD, SCH 40, ASTM A53 Gr.B, for an industrial plumbing project in Ontario. On arrival, our inspector identified that approximately 6% of pieces in one bundle showed uneven zinc coating — visually thinner patches on one side, though still above the 300 g/m² minimum per spot testing. We documented and reported this to the supplier with photos. To their credit, the technical team responded within one business day, acknowledged the issue, and offered a partial credit applied to our next order, which we accepted. Mechanical properties on the MTC were fully compliant — yield at 252 MPa, tensile at 421 MPa. Delivery was 16 business days, within the quoted range. The resolution process was handled professionally, which gives us confidence to place a follow-up trial order. Coating consistency is the area we would want to see improved.
