Ordered 10 tons of galvanized steel pipe, 76.1mm OD, 4mm wall thickness, BS 1387 medium class, for a fencing and perimeter structure project in Alberta. Product quality itself was acceptable — zinc coating at 305 g/m² and mechanical properties within BS 1387 limits. However, the initial delivery estimate was 10 business days and actual delivery took 17 business days due to a production scheduling issue the supplier cited. The team did notify us of the delay on day 8 and offered expedited shipping on the remaining tonnage, which partially offset the impact on our installation timeline. Mill certificates were complete and accurate. For time-sensitive projects, I would recommend building buffer into the schedule. Quality is adequate; communication during the delay could have been more proactive from the start.
