We placed an order for 85 MT of 900×300 H beams in ASTM A992 for a heavy machinery base application. On arrival, approximately 12 pieces were labelled with incorrect heat numbers that did not match the 3.1 certificates, creating a traceability concern for our client's QA audit. We raised this immediately and the supplier re-issued corrected documentation with matching heat traceability within 48 hours. The physical steel itself — 16 mm web, 28 mm flange, 243 kg/m unit weight — was fully on-spec and yield strength test results confirmed Grade 50 compliance. Issue resolved, and we have since placed a follow-up order.
