We received 6 tonnes of 4mm ASTM A588 for IP65 switchgear enclosure panels. About 12% of plates in the first shipment showed uneven shot blasting — some areas below Sa 2.5 cleanliness standard, which risked adhesion failure on our powder coat line. We raised the issue with documentation and photos within 24 hours. The supplier acknowledged the problem, arranged a replacement lot within 10 days, and issued a corrective action report. Second shipment was fully compliant. Material spec itself — yield strength 355 MPa, copper 0.38% — was correct throughout. Situation was handled professionally, but the initial QC miss cost us production time.
