Acceptable Checkered Coil Quality — Packaging Issue Resolved
Ordered 25 tons of Q235B checkered coil, 4mm base thickness, 1500mm width, diamond pattern, oiled, for truck bed flooring applications. Material mechanical properties were confirmed compliant on the MTC and our own spot-check tensile test returned 395 MPa, within spec. However, upon arrival at our Calgary warehouse, two of the eight coils had damaged outer wrapping with minor surface rust on the outermost layer — approximately 0.3m of affected material per coil. We raised this with the supplier immediately and received a credit for the affected footage within five business days, which was handled professionally. The remaining coils were in good condition and processed without issue. Delivery was 11 business days for stock items. We would consider reordering with the expectation that packaging for long-haul ocean freight gets additional waterproofing protection.
