Acceptable Quality PPGI, Color Variance Issue Resolved
Ordered 20 tons of PE-coated prepainted coil (0.55mm, 900mm width, RAL 6005 moss green) for agricultural storage building panels. On arrival, we measured a Delta E of 2.1 on approximately 15% of the coils, which exceeded the ≤1.5 tolerance specified in the order. We raised this with the supplier and they acknowledged the issue, providing a partial credit and priority replacement coils that were dispatched within 10 days and measured Delta E 1.1. The mechanical properties and coating adhesion on all coils were fine — the issue was isolated to color accuracy on part of the batch. The resolution process was handled professionally, but the initial quality miss did cause a 12-day delay to our fabrication schedule. Would consider reordering with stricter pre-shipment color verification agreed contractually.
