| Property | Parameter | Description |
|---|---|---|
| Product Name | Steel Flat Bar | Hot rolled or cold drawn flat bar in carbon, alloy, and stainless steel grades |
| Material Grade | A36 / S235JR / SS400 / Q235B / 1018 / 1045 / 304 / 316 | International equivalents: A36 ≈ S235JR ≈ SS400 ≈ Q235B; 1045 ≈ S45C ≈ C45; 304 ≈ 1.4301 ≈ SUS304 |
| Standard Compliance | ASTM A36 / EN 10058 / JIS G3194 / GB/T 702 | Covers dimensional tolerances, mechanical properties, and chemical composition requirements for flat bars |
| Chemical Composition (C) | ≤ 0.26% (A36) / ≤ 0.17% (S235JR) | Carbon content controls hardness and weldability; lower C improves weldability |
| Chemical Composition (Mn) | ≤ 1.20% (A36) / ≤ 1.40% (S235JR) | Manganese enhances strength and hardenability |
| Chemical Composition (P / S) | P ≤ 0.04% / S ≤ 0.05% | Phosphorus and sulfur are impurity elements; lower values improve toughness and ductility |
| Chemical Composition (Si) | ≤ 0.40% (A36) / ≤ 0.05% (S235JR) | Silicon acts as a deoxidizer and improves strength |
| Tensile Strength | 400–550 MPa (A36 / S235JR) / 585–760 MPa (1045) | Per ASTM A36 and EN 10025-2; higher grades available for structural and mechanical applications |
| Yield Strength | ≥ 250 MPa (A36) / ≥ 235 MPa (S235JR) / ≥ 375 MPa (1045) | Minimum yield strength per respective standards; varies with thickness range |
| Elongation | ≥ 20% (A36, 200 mm gauge) / ≥ 26% (S235JR) | Indicates ductility; tested per ASTM E8 or EN ISO 6892-1 |
| Thickness Range | 3 mm – 100 mm | Common stock thicknesses: 3, 5, 6, 8, 10, 12, 16, 20, 25, 30, 40, 50 mm per EN 10058 / GB/T 702 |
| Width Range | 10 mm – 400 mm | Standard widths: 20, 25, 30, 40, 50, 60, 75, 100, 150, 200 mm; custom widths available |
| Length | 3,000 mm – 12,000 mm (standard) / Custom cut-to-length | Random mill lengths or fixed lengths; tolerance per EN 10058: +100 mm / 0 mm |
| Surface Finish | Hot Rolled (HR) / Cold Drawn (CD) / Pickled & Oiled (P&O) / Galvanized | HR: mill scale surface; CD: smooth, tight tolerance; P&O: scale-free; Galvanized: corrosion-resistant coating |
| Application | Structural fabrication, machinery frames, brackets, supports, conveyor systems, construction, shipbuilding | Widely used in manufacturing, civil engineering, and industrial equipment due to versatile dimensions and grades |
| Certification | Mill Test Certificate (MTC) per EN 10204 3.1 / 3.2; ISO 9001:2015; CE Marking | Third-party inspection available (SGS, BV, TÜV); heat and lot number traceability provided |
| Packaging | Bundled with steel strapping (max 2,000 kg per bundle); wooden dunnage; seaworthy export packing available | Bundles labeled with grade, heat number, dimensions, and weight; moisture-proof wrapping on request |
| MOQ | 1 Metric Ton (MT) | Mixed grades and sizes accepted per order; stock items available for immediate shipment |
Ordered 4 tonnes of flat bars specifying cold-finished surface finish in 50mm x 8mm for marine bracket applications. First shipment arrived in hot-rolled finish instead. I contacted the support team immediately — they acknowledged the error the same day, arranged priority re-shipment of the correct cold-finished stock within 5 business days, and covered the return freight cost without dispute. The replacement material met our spec fully and passed our surface quality checks. The resolution was handled professionally. Marking the order spec more clearly on both sides would prevent this type of issue. Rating reflects the initial error, not the material quality or the response.
