| Property | Parameter | Description |
|---|---|---|
| Product Name | Steel Plates for Bridge Construction | High-strength structural steel plates engineered for highway, railway, and cable-stayed bridge applications |
| Material Grade | ASTM A709 Gr.36/50/70W; EN 10025 S355J2+N; GB/T 714 Q345qD/Q420qE; JIS G3106 SM490Y | International equivalent grades available; weathering steel grades (Gr.50W, S355J0WP) for corrosion-resistant applications |
| Standard Compliance | ASTM A709/A709M; EN 10025-2/-5; GB/T 714-2015; JIS G3106; AASHTO M270 | Fully compliant with bridge design codes including AASHTO LRFD and Eurocode 3 |
| Chemical Composition (C) | ≤ 0.23% (max) | Low carbon content ensures superior weldability and toughness in bridge structures |
| Chemical Composition (Mn, Si, P, S) | Mn: 0.80–1.65%; Si: 0.15–0.50%; P: ≤ 0.025%; S: ≤ 0.015% | Controlled Mn/Si ratio enhances strength; ultra-low P/S minimizes brittleness and lamellar tearing risk |
| Chemical Composition (Cr, Ni, Mo, V) | Cr: ≤ 0.50%; Ni: ≤ 0.50%; Mo: ≤ 0.10%; V: ≤ 0.10% | Micro-alloying elements improve hardenability, fatigue resistance, and atmospheric corrosion resistance |
| Tensile Strength | 485–760 MPa (ASTM A709 Gr.50); 470–630 MPa (EN S355J2) | High tensile strength meets dynamic load and fatigue cycle requirements per AASHTO and Eurocode standards |
| Yield Strength | ≥ 345 MPa (Gr.50 / S355); ≥ 250 MPa (Gr.36 / S235) | Minimum yield strength guaranteed at specified thickness; Z-direction (Z35) grades available for through-thickness loading |
| Elongation | ≥ 18–21% (gauge length 200 mm) | Adequate ductility ensures energy absorption under seismic and impact loading conditions |
| Charpy Impact Toughness | ≥ 34 J at −20°C (Gr.50W); ≥ 27 J at −40°C (Q420qE) | Low-temperature impact toughness critical for bridges in cold climates; tested per ASTM A370 / EN ISO 148-1 |
| Thickness Range | 6 mm – 150 mm | Wider plates available for main girders and box girders; ultra-thick plates (>100 mm) for tower base connections |
| Width & Length | Width: 1,500–4,200 mm; Length: 6,000–18,000 mm | Custom cutting to net shape available; camber and flatness tolerance per EN 10029 Class C or ASTM A6 |
| Surface Finish | As-rolled (AR); Normalized (N); TMCP; Quenched & Tempered (QT) | TMCP process preferred for high-strength grades ≥ Q420q; shot-blast Sa 2.5 pre-treatment optional |
| Certification | CE Marking; Lloyd's Register; DNV GL; BV; CCS; Third-party mill test reports (EN 10204 3.1/3.2) | Full traceability with heat number, ladle analysis, and mechanical test certificates supplied per order |
| Application | Highway bridges, railway bridges, cable-stayed bridges, suspension bridges, steel box girders, orthotropic deck plates | Suitable for primary load-bearing members, stiffeners, diaphragms, and connection plates |
| Packaging | Bare bundle with steel strapping; rust-preventive oil coating; wooden dunnage for sea freight | Export seaworthy packaging available; edge protectors applied to prevent transit damage |
| MOQ | 25 metric tons per grade/thickness | Mixed grades accepted within one order; spot stock available for standard grades (S355J2, Q345qD) with lead time 7–15 days |
We ordered 75 tons of EN 10025-2 S355J2 plates, 100 mm thick, for a bridge abutment foundation project. On arrival, three plates in the batch measured 97.8 mm — outside the agreed EN 10029 Class B tolerance. We raised a formal NCR with photos and mill references. The supplier's quality team responded within 24 hours, accepted the finding without dispute, and arranged replacement plates that arrived within 12 days. Final inspection passed without issue. The resolution process was handled professionally. We would consider ordering again, but will request pre-shipment dimensional verification going forward.
